Suncom Co., Ltd., as the Application Service Provider (LRIT ASP) of Korea, performs LRIT compliance testing for Korean-flagged vessels and issues certificates of compliance on behalf of the government.
In accordance with Regulation 19-1 of Chapter 5 of the IMO SOLAS Convention, the Long-Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) system has been mandatory since January 1, 2009. All vessels of 300 gross tons or more are required to obtain LRIT compliance certification. In January 2009, Suncom was designated as an Application Service Provider (ASP) by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and has since been responsible for LRIT equipment compliance testing and certificate issuance.

 New Testing Notic
  • Only Korean-flagged vessels are eligible for testing. Applications can be submitted after installing a satellite communication device on the vessel in accordance with Korean law.
  • LRIT testing will be allowed after activating a Korean-flagged Inmarsat-C number through KTsat or other providers and receiving the Activation Report.
  • During the test, the LRIT equipment must remain powered and stable for approximately two days.
  • The following documents must be submitted in full for certificate issuance:
