To regularly assess the status of coastal fishery resources in Korea and prevent resource depletion caused by indiscriminate fishing, we provide a digital technology-based platform for monitoring and analyzing Total Allowable Catch (TAC).
The importance of monitoring IUU (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated) fishing, which initially focused on distant-water fisheries, is now expanding to Korea’s coastal and inshore sectors. As coastal fishery resources become increasingly depleted and competition over fishing grounds intensifies, illegal fishing activities have become more frequent. This has led to growing recognition of the need for scientific resource management to ensure the sustainability of fisheries. In particular, with the government’s plan to fully implement the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) system for all fishing vessels by 2028, accurate catch reporting and continuous monitoring have become essential. SUNCOM provides a digital technology-based TAC and IUU monitoring and analysis platform to regularly assess the status of Korea’s coastal fishery resources and prevent resource depletion caused by indiscriminate fishing practices.
