The Ship Router system enables seamless connectivity in limited maritime communication environments. Based on the vessel’s geographic location and available network conditions, it automatically selects the optimal communication channel Wi-Fi, LTE-M, Starlink, VSAT, Fleet Broadband, Iridium, etc.—to ensure continuous connectivity. More than just a switching device, it strengthens network reliability and helps optimize communication costs onboard.

Key Features 

Intelligent Network Selection

The system automatically evaluates the communication environment settings (geo-fencing) and signal strength to adjust communication configurations and quality. Based on this assessment, it intelligently switches between communication channels such as VSAT, Fleet Broadband, 3G, LTE, and Wi-Fi to ensure uninterrupted connectivity. When the vessel approaches a port, it seamlessly switches to low-cost terrestrial networks. And in distant-sea areas, it transitions to suitable satellite communication without interruption.

Distributed Processing of Data Overload

Through advanced load-balancing functionality, the system intelligently distributes communication traffic across multiple channels and efficiently manages bandwidth to reduce costs. It distinguishes between critical data and general data, routing each through the most appropriate network to maximize communication efficiency.

Efficient Cost Management

The system prioritizes low-cost communication options such as 3G, LTE, and Wi-Fi, while using high-cost satellite communication only when necessary to reduce overall communication expenses. It monitors data usage based on user-defined cost management policies and prevents unnecessary data consumption.

Core Technology

The system incorporates a communication switching technology using geo-fencing for maritime environments. (Patent No. 10-1761221) This technology predicts the vessel’s route and prepares the optimal communication network in advance, minimizing delays or disconnections that may occur during network transitions.

User-Priority Network Selection Function

It provides a function that selects the most optimal network based on user-defined conditions to ensure a reliable connection. This prevents disconnection and guarantees a stable network connection even in marine environments.

Administrator Monitoring Function

A user-friendly, web-based administrator dashboard provides real-time monitoring of network status, usage statistics, cost analysis, and traffic patterns at a glance.
